Architecture Landmarks

3D Exploration
Project Overview
Architecture is an amazing invention. It's even more fun when you can look at buildings in 3D and move them around like one of the models we all built when we were kids. So I figured let's try that a try and see where it takes me.
My Approach
I started to look for technology that didn't require a lot of upfront time investment to get a hand of it. I played with three.js back in the day and was tempted to work with that. In the end I went with a tool that is based on it, but is easier to rapid prototype with.

Used Technology:
- pen and lots of paper for sketches
- spline.design for building the models and showing them

Pyramids

My Notes
Pyramids are some of the most basic shapes we know from geometry. The are also a standard shape that most 3D modelling tools offer as a default. I figured they are a good first step to start with 3D modelling. I had to apologise a couple of times to my Mexican relatives for what I did to the ideas of a meso-american but I found it's a good example of the level of detail I wanted to go for.

Water

My Notes
Building often only come alive when we see them in some context. This is usually done by photoshopping people into a rendering. I decided to go another way for some of the scenes. While Geneva is full of great buildings it's most iconic landmarks is the water fountain. So I went ahead and played with a particle system to emulate the effect water has on the setting of that landmark.
